The Animal Rescue Site & The Literacy Site

January 5, 2009

First up is The Animal Rescue Site. I’m a big animal lover (if you can’t already tell) and I really love helping out animals in need! What better way then to donate food just by clicking a big purple button once a day! How simple is that! Here is some information about The Animal Rescue Site…

The Animal Rescue Site

The Animal Rescue Site focuses the power of the Internet on a specific need — providing food for some of the 27 million unwanted animals given to shelters in the U.S. every year. Over 10 million animals are put to death every year in the U.S. alone because they are abandoned and unwanted.

Each click on the purple “Click Here to Give – it’s FREE” button at The Animal Rescue Site provides food and care for a rescued animal living in a shelter or sanctuary. (Each click-once a day- provides .6 Bowls of Food now multiply that by 30 days that’s 18 Bowls of Food a month) Funding for food and care is paid by site sponsors and distributed to animals in need at The Fund for Animals’ renowned animal sanctuaries (including Cleveland Amory Black Beauty Ranch in Texas and The Fund for Animals Wildlife Center in Southern California), pet shelters supported by the Petfinder Foundation, North Shore Animal League, and other worthy animal care facilities supported by the GreaterGood.org foundation.

100% of sponsor advertising fees goes to their charitable partners.

In 2008 a TOTAL of 77.8 Million Bowls of Food were Given!!!

Next up is The Literacy Site. This site is fairly new to me and I just started doing the daily clicking for it. As you know I LOVE books. I also LOVE reading to children (and seeing them read) and seeing them get captivated by a book they enjoy. It’s just an amazing feeling to have a child bring you the same book over and over again and have you read it to them. (I don’t have children-I babysat a lot when I was younger, but I hope to have a few of my own someday) So this site is a great way to promote literacy among children. Here is some information about The Literacy Site…
The Literacy Site

The Literacy Site was founded to help promote literacy among children from low-income families nationwide. Partnering with First Book and Room to Read, the site makes books available to children around the world, giving many children their very first book. With the generous support of our sponsors, each click provides 1% of a book. Making books a part of a child’s life is the best way to encourage the love of reading, and literacy is key in breaking the poverty cycle.

In addition to clicking the “Click Here to Give – it’s FREE” button, visitors can help make books available by shopping in The Literacy Site Store. With each item purchased, shoppers generate funds for free books for children in need. The store offers a wide array of unique and meaningful items, including apparel, jewelry, home accents and gifts from around the world.

In 2008 a TOTAL of 522,292 Books were Given To Children!
